The stage at the Wickenburg Community Center is due to come out. The renovation plan approved by the Town Council replaces it with a banquet room that has a movable partition wall. It also encloses the patio behind a 16-foot rolling metal gate so the space can be rented for weddings and concerts. Until that work is finished, the building is closed. This holiday season, every big gathering in Wickenburg takes place in a space built for something else: a rodeo arena, an elementary school gym, a ranch trail, a museum gallery and the downtown streets.
That pattern makes the next six weeks easier to plan. Each date below comes with its own venue and its own way of getting in.
The Building Most Events Would Use Is Closed Until Mid-May
The Wickenburg Sun reported that the Town Council authorized $7,020,380 for the renovation. Of that, $6,508,547 is Caliente Construction's guaranteed maximum price for construction. The rest covers $155,833 for security and AV, $96,000 for furniture, fixtures and equipment, and a $260,000 Town contingency. According to the Sun, $5 million comes from the FY27 capital improvement allocation for the center. Another $1.35 million was freed up by reprogramming other FY27 projects, and $670,380 was moved from the General Fund contingency. The Sun reports the project is funded without new taxes or loans.
The published timeline:
- August 2026: Mobilization and demolition begin.
- Early May 2027: Construction is complete.
- Mid-May 2027: Grand reopening.
The project is design-build, with Caliente Construction, Inc. and Arrington Watkins Architects. The work replaces the roofing and trusses, HVAC, electrical and plumbing. It adds ADA-compliant restrooms and building access and a new fire alarm and sprinkler system. It also encloses the west and south lobbies and expands the commercial kitchen, which gets direct parking-lot access for caterers and deliveries.
The first move came in September. The Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce said Fiesta de Septiembre had always been held at the Community Center, which was no longer available because of the renovation. So the Chamber held a new event called "Tastes of Mexico" at Stone Park on Friday, September 4. November and December follow the same pattern, spread across more venues.
This Weekend: A School Gym, a Ranch Trail and the Museum
The season starts today, Thursday, November 5. The 1st Annual Amigos of Boyd Ranch Benefit Trail Ride runs November 5 through 8 at Boyd Ranch, 33475 N. Scenic Loop Rd.
Tomorrow the Wickenburg Art Club opens its 2026 Holiday Market at a new venue, the Round Gym at Hassayampa Elementary School, 195 E. Coconino St. The Club says every booth is indoors this year. The market runs Friday, November 6, from 9 a.m., through Saturday, November 7, at 4 p.m. For a shopping trip in early November, an indoor setting means less depending on the weather.
Also on Friday, November 6, the Sigler Western Museum hosts Free Family Friday. The day includes a new collaboration with a Youth Art Club and a new Youth History Keepers event. Saturday, November 7, is the first of the November team-roping dates at Rancho Rio Arena.
Mid-November Centers on the Everett Bowman Rodeo Arena
The 47th Annual Wickenburg Bluegrass Festival runs November 13 through 15 at the Everett Bowman Rodeo Arena, 935 Constellation Road. The Chamber notes the arena is less than two miles from historic downtown. The Chamber produces the event, which it calls the Four Corner States Bluegrass Festival and one of the oldest bluegrass festivals in the Southwest.
The Chamber's printed schedule rotates the same four bands through all three days: TenDollar Wedding, The Howard Brothers, Permafrost Road and The Badly Bent. Most of the contests are on Saturday, and the fiddle contest takes up Sunday.
| Day | Gates to close | Contests on the schedule |
|---|---|---|
| Friday, Nov. 13 | 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. | Specialty Vocals, Specialty Instruments |
| Saturday, Nov. 14 | 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Specialty Duet, Banjo Championship, Bluegrass Bands Contest, Mandolin Championship, Band Scramble |
| Sunday, Nov. 15 | 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Fiddle Contest Rounds 1 and 2, Flat Pick Guitar, Fiddle Championships, Band Scramble Winners |
The festival is outdoors in a rodeo arena, and the house rules reflect that. Covered grandstand seating is limited, and the Chamber suggests bringing lawn chairs. Pets are not allowed, except for service dogs. Outside alcohol, food and coolers are prohibited, but a beer booth and food vendors are on site all weekend. The festival page lists three ways to buy tickets: online through Eventbrite, in person at the Wickenburg Visitor Center at 216 N. Frontier Street, or with cash only at the gate. Tickets are nonrefundable, and the event goes on rain or shine. If you plan to camp, the Chamber says to reserve your camping spot before buying tickets, because tickets come with the camping reservation.
Saturday, November 14, Is the Busiest Day
The Saturday contest lineup has competition from across town. The 38th Annual Diamonds & Denim Dinner & Dance is that evening at Rancho de los Caballeros, in the Sonoran Room and Patio at 1551 S. Vulture Mine Road. Rancho Rio Arena has roping events on November 14 as well, so Wickenburg has two arenas running on the same day.
The festival's opening Friday also has a museum event. On November 13, the Sigler Western Museum holds a members' reception for its Patsy Lowry exhibition. Two days before, on Veterans Day, November 11, veterans and their family members get free admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Museum Is Building a Second Venue Across the Street
The Sigler Western Museum, which took that name in October 2025, is the one major venue here adding space instead of borrowing it. According to its history page, the museum broke ground in April 2026 on a 27,100-square-foot art museum and pavilion across the street. The museum's new art museum page includes an August 7 construction video titled "Steel Framing." When the museum announced its new name in 2025, it projected the building would open in late 2027.
Inside the current building, one exhibition is about to change. "Our Western Legacy: Treasures from the Permanent Collection" closes November 29, 2026. Two shows will stay through the winter: "Vivid Portraits and Violent Color: The Art of Fritz Scholder" and "Thank you, Arizona … With Love: Patsy Skyline Lowry." Both run through February 21, 2027. The Fritz Scholder and Patsy Lowry shows will still be up when holiday guests visit in December. The permanent-collection show will be gone by then.
December Moves to Rancho Rio and the Downtown Streets
Rancho Rio Arena stays busy after Thanksgiving. Its calendar lists more Yost roping dates on November 16, 21 and 23. The NTR Black Friday Event runs November 27 and 28. Then "Yost - Vegas in Wickenburg" runs from November 30 through December 9.
Downtown, December 5 has two evening events that overlap. The Holiday Music Walk & Christmas Tree Lighting runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in Historic Downtown Wickenburg, and organizers have said more details are coming. The same night, the 35th Annual Cowboy Christmas Poetry Gathering is at the Cultural Crossroads Learning Center, 10 N. Tegner St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $30, and the price rises to $40 after December 1 and at the door. Buying poetry tickets before December 1 saves $10 per seat. Since the music walk runs until 7:30, an early arrival downtown lets you catch the tree lighting before the poets start.
The 32nd Annual Christmas Parade of Lights is Friday, December 11. It is free, and the parade starts at 7 p.m. from Wickenburg Christian Academy. The listing names the Chamber at 216 N. Frontier St. as the event location, and a route map has been posted.
About Six Months Until Mid-May
None of these events needs the Community Center this winter. The gym market, the arena festival, the ranch dinner, the museum reception and the parade each work in the spaces they have. The renovated building should be ready in mid-May 2027, after the season ends. It will have a banquet room in place of the stage, a rentable enclosed patio and a kitchen that caterers can reach straight from the parking lot. The Sigler Western Museum's new art building across the street has a later projected opening of late 2027.
